This webinar will provide you with a proven method to improve students’ experience and training quality outcomes through clustering, while the compliance requirements of individual units are still met.
About this Webinar
Organising training delivery and/or assessment in clusters or groups of units can help RTOs to better align training with workplace practices, maximise the opportunities for holistic collection of assessment evidence, and improve the efficiencies of the training program.
Why are so many RTOs reluctant to use clusters? The process of designing learning and assessment that meet the requirements for clusters of units rather than individual units requires a holistic approach, and if it’s not done well it may create gaps that can create non-compliances against clauses 1.1, 1.3, 1.4, and 1.8.
During this webinar you will learn a methodical approach to clustering units of competencies to ensure that the efficiencies and improvements of a cluster-based delivery and assessment does not compromise the ability to meet regulatory requirements.
Our experienced facilitator and auditor Javier Amaro will take you through a full worked example of clustering three units.
What you will learn
To cluster or not to cluster? The decision to cluster for delivery and/or assessment will be made based on a number of considerations that relate to the needs of the student, the needs of the workplace, the needs of the RTO and the characteristics of the units of competency.
When clustering units, it is possible to do so for delivery, for assessment or for both. This webinar will take you through the steps required to design a cluster approach identifying the commonalities in what needs to be learned and assessed. When these commonalities or duplications are present, delivering stand alone units becomes a very inefficient and ineffective approach.
This webinar will give you examples of training design analysis, training plans, session plans, and assessment strategies based on a cluster approach

- Melbourne Institute of Massage TherapyJavier is an excellent presenter who knows his subject matter and how to present it so that everyone can understand. Because this particular topic is complex additional time was required. Javier did something that does not happen very often - he asked if participants could stay on longer and he didn't rush through the final points of the session. I have found that every interaction with Insources has been professional, informative and completely relevant to my work. Thank you
